back to shows and workshops

Overview
Street urchin Aladdin has hopes of a better life, and dreams of marrying the beautiful Princess Jasmine. He meets the evil magician Abanazar who tricks Aladdin into helping him retrieve a magic lamp from the cave of wonders, which will give Abanazar ultimate power. Aladdin soon gets suspicious of the magician and, with the help of the genie of the lamp, Aladdin escapes back to Peking with three wishes in tow.

However Abanazar steals the lamp and gets three wishes of his own. Aladdin must rely on his intelligence to trick Abanazar and save his friends and the kingdom once and for all.

This adaptation of the popular pantomime is full of laughter, audience interaction, music and comedy and is guaranteed to give everyone a truly magical Christmas.

Benefits to Children's Learning & Development
This production is suitable for both key stages 1 and 2. The show is a great tool for encouraging students to read well-known stories, providing them with the ideas and creativity to devise stories of their own. The production also offers a fantastic insight into the world of the traditional pantomime.

The Cox Report 1989 recognises that: “Children construct the world through story”, and it also acknowledges the fun and the challenge of developing children’s “natural enthusiasms for story structures and role play.” It goes on to stress the teacher’s role in developing “interest in the act of reading” and how reading has an important role to play in improving children’s speaking, listening and writing abilities.
