change for life

back to shows and workshops

Overview
Funky Fitness is set in the future where junk food is rife and health problems are spiralling out of control, due to lack of exercise and bad eating habits.

But help is at hand, thanks to The Funky Fitness Crew - a bunch of street wise kids who want to encourage families to adopt a healthier lifestyle. They set themselves the challenge of getting children everywhere to swap their junk food diets for more nutritious meals and take up healthy activities such as sport, dancing and outdoor games.

A battle ensues between The Funky Fitness Crew and resident baddie Madam Galore - owner of giant fast food chain, Burgers Galore - who ignores government guidelines to make her burgers healthier.  It’s up to The Funky Fitness Crew to expose her evil ways and save us from becoming a nation of burger guzzling couch potatoes.

Benefits to Children's Learning & Development
With the number of overweight children rising rapidly over the past 20 years, increasing the risk of potential health problems, it is vital that young people learn the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle. Funky Fitness aims to give young people enthusiasm for healthy eating and exercise by introducing a variety of activities and foods that can be enjoyed by everyone.

The production will give students an understanding of where their food comes from and how it is grown as they discover what effect different foods have on their body. The show will also create awareness of the benefits of a balanced diet and regular exercise.
